The Gaffer gives an update

We caught up with manager Nick Labbate for a quick chat prior to the start of pre season training

Q - Obviously we are still a few weeks away from the pre season friendlies starting what are you expecting out of the squad in preparation for these games ?

A - We have a solid 6 week block of pre season training sessions which will take place 3 times a week! Fitness was our biggest downfall last season & couldn't see a full 90 minutes out on a game day. So preparing them the right way is going to be key!

Q - Last season Sandiacre used a lot of different players, are you hoping for a more settled side this time out?

A - Last season was a matter of trying to build the best squad I possibly could with the sources I have available to me. This season will be alot more settled with a set number in mind between the management team.

Q - We have a great youth system here at Sandiacre with 2 brand new under 18 teams starting up this season will you be keeping an eye on this with a view to progression?

A- Everybody will be given an opportunity during pre season. As you've seen previously I'm happy to give younger lads a chance especially if they're good enough! Some Reserves & under 18s will be coming along to some of our pre season friendlies.

Q - What are your hopes and expectations for the season?
A- My hopes are to not be anywhere near that relegation zone this coming season. Last year we nearly made it out but unfortunately couldn't do it, we've been given a lifeline this season & we will prove to everybody that we're here to mix it with the best in the league. Expectations wise .... its to early to say at this moment in time. Until I have a settled squad into place I wouldn't like to give a answer on that right now. Having signed Travis Munn & Ben Wallis . They both add real quality to our squad. Travis with his experience, height, strength & leadership Ben Wallis is a young energetic full back come Winger. He has one of the best left foots I've seen & I know Ben will be a superb addition to the squad
